David Goodman, Ph.D.

Dr. Goodman is an Assistant Director of the Indiana Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) and an Associate Professor teaching courses in Electrical Engineering Technology, Facilities Management, and Mechanical Engineering at IUPUI. His Industry experience includes designing medium voltage switchgear and distribution breakers at GE and designing and commissioning electrical power distribution systems and industrial control systems at multiple glass container manufacturing facilities for Owens Illinois.

Capabilities

David has extensive expertise in energy auditing, solar thermal systems, electrical power systems, and informal energy education and has received research funding predominately from the US Department of Energy in the energy audit area. As a Certified Energy Auditor (#2083) David has published several conference papers and journal articles in the area and over 160 technical papers (to the USDOE) related to assessment recommendations to reduce energy usage, energy cost, and carbon emissions at primarily manufacturing facilities, but also water, waste water, and institutional facilities. He has recently been awarded USDOE funding for a pilot project on commercial facilities.

David is a life member of the American Solar Energy Society and an annual member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and of course Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
